The evening demonstration began around 6:00 PM near the Panepistimio metro station. Protesters moved down Panepistimiou and Stadiou, passing Syntagma Square, before being dispersed with tear gas and flashbang grenades at the intersection of Panepistimiou and Emmanouil Benaki as they attempted to turn northeast toward the Exarchia neighborhood.
After the dispersal, riot police pursued protesters through the area around Kotzia Square near Athens City Hall. Local media and police reports put the number of arrests at more than 15, with some outlets reporting up to 19.
Later in the evening, a small group gathered in Exarchia at the corner of Tzavella and Mesolongiou, the site where Grigoropoulos was killed, where they held a vigil and sang songs.
